Today was the big day I had been waiting for for months: the interview! My appointment was scheduled for 1 PM, so I arrived to the US Consulate General at Museumplein shortly after 12:30 PM.

At about 12:50 PM the security guys started to let people inside, after checking everyone's passport (I haven't seen any guest list or similar), taking in backpacks and bottles of water. Two guards checked my phone to see if bluetooth was off. The guard insisted I remove all the documents that I had arranged in a harmonica file so neatly, he also asked me if I thought I needed "all of this". I wasn't sure what to say because I brought the documents the US CG required, plus evidence of relationship because yes, I had thought I might need it. He let me bring all my papers inside, but kept the organiser....so I ended up with a stack of papers that seemed messy - if I hadn't labeled every single document, I would have problems finding it. I didn't think the guards were were friendly, th... read complete review

Not sure why a review really matters, but I don’t see any on here about the process after your visa has been approved so figure we can help set Expectations. There is no visibility into what’s going on after your visa has been ‘issued’ on the CEAC site. Yes they say you get a tracking number, but two weeks after the interview (and one week after issued on ceac), we have zero information. The AIS people they tell you to contact have no information, they just give standard answers. It’s baffling the lack of info and visibility we have, and is very frustrating. Don’t expect to get your visa too soon after the interview. They say 7-10 days, it is longer than that. Not sure how it can take so long to put a package in the mail.

Everything at the consulate went very smoothly. My appointment was at 1 in the afternoon, so 2 hours in advance i had to drop of some paperwork. I came back at 1 for my interview, and sat down for about an hour and a half untill i got called up to the window. The interview itself was short, a couple of questions about my relationship and i was approved. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and professional. Be prepared to let this take up your whole day though, you'll never know how long you might be waiting for your turn.

So overal, easy to find place, clear instructions and a pretty smooth process. They're quick to reply to emails too.

Approved yaay! The people at the consulate were very friendly. The interviewer asked me quite a few questions, about how our relationship started and progressed, if I met his family, our plans in the US and our age difference. He was trying to get a complete story after reading up on our file before the interview. I saw he or his colleague had made some notes of questions to ask. All in all I only spent 40 minutes inside, of which about 25 at the windows (first just some paperwork, secondly the interview). Good luck everyone!
